    7-Aminonaphthalene-1,3-disulfonic acid is an analytical reagent that is used for the detection of glycosidic bonds. It reacts with aldehydes and ketones to form a fluorescent product. This reaction solution can be analyzed by FTIR spectroscopy or on-line fluorescence detection. 7-Aminonaphthalene-1,3-disulfonic acid has been shown to react with glycosidic bonds in oligosaccharides, glycopeptides, and polysaccharides. This reaction product can be detected by a fluorometer or by using a UV detector at 280 nm. 7-Aminonaphthalene-1,3-disulfonic acid is also used as a reagent in analytical chemistry for the determination of fatty acids. It reacts with the carboxyl group of fatty acids to form an aminonaphthalene derivative that can be detected using an IR detector
