3,3,3-Trifluoropropylsulfonyl chloride is a chemical reagent that has the chemical formula CF 3 SO 2 Cl. It is a colorless liquid with a strong odour. 3,3,3-Trifluoropropylsulfonyl chloride is used in analyses of chlorine and compounds containing chlorine. The molecule has three equivalent centers of symmetry and can be described as planar with C-C bonds perpendicular to the plane of the molecule. The molecule has a trigonal bipyramidal molecular geometry with three equivalent chlorine atoms at 120° angles to one another. The experimental Raman spectrum for this compound shows two conformers: one linear (A) and one bent (B). The Raman spectra for both conformers are very similar, but have slightly different intensities.
