3-Nitro-N-(1-propyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)benzamide is a beta lactamase inhibitor. It has been shown to inhibit the beta lactamase enzyme, which is responsible for the hydrolysis of penicillin and other beta-lactam antibiotics. 3-Nitrobenzamide has also been shown to be active against resistant bacteria in vitro.
