1-Phenylazo-2-naphthylamine
CAS:1-Phenylazo-2-naphthylamine is a fluorescent dye that is used in analytical chemistry. It is a reactive compound that has a hydroxyl group and a phase transition temperature of 129 °C. 1-Phenylazo-2-naphthylamine has been shown to be toxic to animals, but not humans. It can inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to fatty acids in the cell wall, which prevents the synthesis of proteins needed for bacterial growth. 1-Phenylazo-2-naphthylamine also reacts with metal ions, forming metal chelates that bind tightly to the surface of bacteria and prevent them from growing. The chemical structure of this molecule consists of a benzene ring with two naphthyl groups attached on opposite sides, giving it its distinctive color.Formula:C16H13N3Molecular weight:247.29 g/mol1-Phenylazo-2-naphthylamine
