Tyroserleutide hydrochloride is an ion channel activator. It can be used as a research tool to study the function of ion channels and their ligands in cell biology and pharmacology. Tyroserleutide hydrochloride binds to the extracellular domain of the human erythrocyte receptor and activates it by changing its conformation. This agent also can inhibit protein-protein interactions, such as those between the receptor and its ligand.
