CAS:4-Amino-1-[(1S,4R,5S)-2-fluoro-4,5-dihydroxy-3-(hydroxymethyl)-2-cyclopenten-1-yl]-2(1H)-pyrimidinone (4AP) is a potent inhibitor of methyltransferase enzymes. It is currently being researched as a potential treatment for metastatic pancreatic cancer. 4AP binds to the active site of the enzyme and prevents it from transferring methyl groups onto DNA. This prevents cell proliferation and tumor growth by inhibiting RNA and protein synthesis. 4AP also has anticancer activity against mouse tumors in vitro. 4AP has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs). MDSCs are immune cells that have been shown to have a negative effect on tumor growth.
