(R)-(+)-2-Amino-3-methyl-1,1-diphenyl-1-butanol
CAS:(R)-(+)-2-Amino-3-methyl-1,1-diphenyl-1-butanol is a chiral prochiral methyl ester. It is prepared from the oxime by treatment with phenylmagnesium bromide and hydrochloric acid. The resulting (R)-(+)-2-amino-(3'-methyl) butanol hydrochloride can be isolated as crystals or precipitated as an oil by the addition of ethanol to the reaction mixture. The product can be purified by recrystallization from boiling ethanol.
