CAS:DL-Lithium lactate is a biologically active form of lithium that has been shown to inhibit follicular growth in vitro. It is an important component of the electrolyte composition in human serum and can be used as a substitute for sodium citrate. The concentration of lithium required to inhibit follicular growth was found to be optimum at 10 mM, and this concentration was also found to be clinically relevant. The activity of DL-lithium lactate is due to its ability to bind hydroxyl ions, which are present in high concentrations in biological samples. Magnesium salt may also be added for stability purposes. DL-Lithium lactate has been shown to inhibit the growth of infectious bacteria, such as Salmonella enteritidis and Staphylococcus epidermidis. DL-Lithium lactate can also be used as an analytical method for determining the acyl chain length of fatty acids in biological samples by gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GCFormula:C3H5LiO3Purity:(Icp) Min. 98%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:96.01 g/molLithium 2-hydroxypropanoate
