5-Fluoro-2'-o-methyl-4-(methylithio)uridine (5F-OMe-4MSU) is a novel anticancer drug that has been synthesized by modification of uridine. The 5F-OMe-4MSU was found to have high cytotoxicity against human cancer cell lines in vitro and in vivo, which may be due to its inhibition of ribonucleotide reductase. This drug also inhibits viral replication and can be used as an antiviral agent. 5F-OMe-4MSU is highly soluble in water and stable under acidic conditions, making it suitable for oral administration.
