It is used in the analytical method of sephadex g-100 to identify receptor cells and measure their response to light exposure. The probe is conjugated with fatty acids which react with the hydroxyl group on sephadex g-100. 2,6-Dichlorophenol--13C6 has shown potential for use as an imaging agent for tumours and other metabolic disorders.
