It is an amide and may be used as a spirocyclic heterocyclic ring. 6-Azaspiro[2.5]octane may have the ability to reduce blood glucose levels by inhibiting pancreatic lipase, which regulates the production of triglycerides and free fatty acids in the liver. In diabetic rats, 6-azaspiro[2.5]octane reduced blood glucose levels, suggesting that it could be used as a therapeutic agent for diabetes mellitus type 2.
