1-Ethyl-6-fluoro-4-oxo-7-(3-oxo-1-piperazinyl)-1,4-dihydro-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid
CAS:1-Ethyl-6-fluoro-4-oxo-7-(3-oxo-1-piperazinyl)-1,4-dihydro-1,8-naphthyridine 3 carboxylic acid (EFN) is a fluoroquinolone antimicrobial agent. It is an inhibitor of bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. EFN binds to bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA and inhibits protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. EFN has been shown to have a terminal half life of about 8 hours in humans with normal liver function. EFN has been shown to be effective against gram positive species such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis. This drug also interacts with other drugs such as caffeine.Formula:C15H15FN4O4Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:334.3 g/mol
