It has bactericidal activity and inhibits mitochondrial ATP synthesis. 6-ethoxy-5-fluoropyridin-3-amine has been shown to be active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis in vitro, but not against Mycobacterium avium or Mycobacterium leprae. It also inhibits the growth of mycobacterial cells by interfering with the synthesis of ATP at the mitochondria level.
