    1,1,1-Trifluoro-N-[(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]-methanesulfonamide potassium salt (1:1) is a polymer that has been synthesized by reacting a polymeric matrix with an organic acid. FT-IR spectroscopy was used to analyze the chemical structure of this polymer. The FT-IR spectrum of the polymer shows peaks at 2900 cm−1 and 1690 cm−1 which correspond to C=O stretching and C=C stretching vibrations in the carboxylic acid group. This polymer also displays high salt transport properties, as well as low energy and electrolyte transport properties. Powder diffraction analysis was used to identify the crystalline nature of this polymer. Redox potential measurements show that this polymer reacts as a nucleophile in an electrochemical reaction. Potassium ion is required for this reaction; however, it does not produce much current because it is not a good conductor.
