3-(4-Sulfamoylphenyl)propanoic acid
CAS:3-(4-Sulfamoylphenyl)propanoic acid (3SPPA) is a sulfonamide drug that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of glaucoma. It is thought to work by inhibiting carbonic anhydrase, which is an enzyme found in the human eye that produces fluid to maintain the shape of the lens and keep it clear. 3SPPA has also been shown to inhibit human cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are responsible for metabolizing many drugs and other xenobiotics. 3SPPA inhibits x-ray structures, including those found in human liver cells, as well as mammalian cytochrome P450 enzymes expressed in tissue culture. This drug also binds to carbonic anhydrase II in humans and prevents its activity.Formula:C9H11NO4SPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:229.25 g/mol3-[4-(Sulphamoyl)phenyl]propanoic acid
