Difloxacin is a bactericidal, broad-spectrum, fluroquinolone antibiotic which is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. By interfering with the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase, which is necessary for the upkeep and synthesis of bacterial DNA, it causes an antibacterial impact.
