CAS:(R)-SDP is an organophosphorus compound that is used as a ligand. It has been shown to catalyze the hydroamination of amines with alkyl halides and benzene, giving products with high enantioselectivity. The hydrogenated form of (R)-SDP has been prepared by reaction with lithium diisopropylamide at -78 ˚C. The synthesis of the hydrogenated form was accomplished in three steps: (1) reaction of sodium hydride with (2) 2-bromoethanol and (3) N-bromosuccinimide, followed by reaction with lithium diisopropylamide at -78 ˚C.
