It is a compound that has the ability to react with diazonium salts. 2,3-Dihydroxynaphthalene can be used as an analytical reagent for the detection of hydroxyl groups and can be used in the quantitative determination of ph optimums in rat liver microsomes. 2,3-Dihydroxynaphthalene also reacts with benzaldehyde to form a molecule that consists of intramolecular hydrogen bonds.
