[1,2,4]Triazolo[4,3-a]pyridine-6-carboxylic acid

[1,2,4]Triazolo[4,3-a]pyridine-6-carboxylic acid is an epoxygenase inhibitor that is used to lower blood pressure and as a treatment for diabetes. This drug inhibits the hydrolases that catalyze the formation of reactive epoxides from arachidonic acid. These epoxides can then react with lipids in cell membranes and cause damage to cells. Treatment with [1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyridine-6-carboxylic acid has been shown to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease by inhibiting soluble epoxide hydrolase and thereby preventing the formation of reactive epoxides.
