1-Chloro-3-phenyl-propan-2-one
CAS:Chloromethyl ketone (CMK) is a reactive chemical that can be used to inactivate the active form of histidine-containing enzymes. It reacts with the basic group of histidine and forms an alkylating agent, which prevents the enzyme from functioning. CMK has been shown to affect ionophore transport in populations of bacteria and yeast cells. CMK also has bifunctional properties, as it can act as an ionophore or emulsifier. This chemical is sometimes used to create homologous protein structures for protein crystallization studies. The imidazole ring is hydrophobic and may be important for binding to proteins.Purity:Min. 95%Ref: 3D-FC170239
