4-Phenylpyridine is a molecule that contains an acidic ph. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the neurokinin-1 receptor, which is a G protein coupled receptor that mediates inflammatory responses and pain. The structure of 4-Phenylpyridine consists of two dihedral angles and can be found in the x-ray crystal structures of ester linkages. The chlorine atom in this molecule is responsible for its acidic ph. Chronic exposure to 4-Phenylpyridine has been associated with mitochondrial membrane potential changes and decreased striatal dopamine levels, and it has also been implicated in inflammatory diseases.
