CAS:3,5-Dinitropyridine is an organic compound that has been shown to be a potent antibiotic against bacteria. 3,5-Dinitropyridine binds to the nucleophilic site on the bacterial cell wall and has been shown to be active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. This drug is activated by hydrogen bonding with water molecules, which triggers a ring opening reaction. The activation energy for this process is 6 kcal/mol. 3,5-Dinitropyridine reacts readily with dimethylformamide (DMF), which acts as the solvent in this reaction. The reaction rate of 3,5-dinitropyridine with DMF was found to be 1.6x10^6 M^3/mole s^1 at 25 degrees Celsius using a constant of 0.1 M/L at pH 7.0 and ionic strength of 0.01 M KCl. It also reacts with copper ions, forming an antibacterialFormula:C5H3N3O4Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:169.1 g/molRef: 3D-FD158466
