2-(6-Bromopyridin-2-yl)ethanol is a c1-c4, cyclic, hydroxamic, non-steroidal compound that interacts with the 5ht4 receptor. It is a ligand for kinases and growth factor receptors. 2-(6-Bromopyridin-2-yl)ethanol has been shown to be an antibacterial agent against Gram positive bacteria and amine producing organisms. This compound can also interact with the 5ht4 receptor to produce antidepressant effects in animals. The preparation process of this drug involves reacting the 2-(6-bromopyridin-2-yl)ethanol with various reagents such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide in aqueous solutions at temperatures between 0°C and 100°C.
