5,8-Dibromoimidazo[1,2-a]pyrazine

5,8-Dibromoimidazo[1,2-a]pyrazine (5,8-DI) is a potent and selective inhibitor of inflammatory diseases. It has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in animal models. The mechanism of action of 5,8-DI is not fully understood but it may involve inhibition of the phosphorylation of protein kinase C (PKC) or activation of apoptosis pathways. 5,8-DI has been shown to have a pharmacokinetic profile that is activated by liver enzymes and then quickly cleared from the body. This compound also has a low toxicity for cancer cells.
