1-Benzofuran-3-carboxamide (1BFC) is a synthetic, organic solvent that inhibits the NS5B polymerase of the hepatitis C virus. 1BFC has been shown to inhibit the replication of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). This agent has pharmacophoric features that are similar to 5-hydroxytryptamine 2C receptor ligands and benzofuran derivatives with antiviral activities.
