Ethyl 3-(2,6-dichloro-5-fluoropyridin-3-yl)-3-oxopropanoate

Ethyl 3-[2,6-dichloro-5-fluoro-(3-pyridiyl)]-3-oxopropanoate is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial ribosomes. It has been shown to be effective against Streptococcus pneumoniae and Streptococcus pyogenes in vitro. The inhibitory concentrations of this drug were determined by testing the growth of bacteria in the presence of different concentrations of the drug. Ethyl 3-[2,6-dichloro-5-fluoro-(3-pyridiyl)]-3-oxopropanoate has also been shown to have antibacterial activity against a number of gram positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis, as well as gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This drug also has tetracyclic and malonate moieties which may
