It has been shown to promote bone formation and inhibit bone resorption in vitro by stimulating the release of growth factors. This peptide can be used as a diagnostic agent for monitoring cell culture, which may be due to its ability to bind monoclonal antibodies. H-Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-OH also has the ability to form conjugates with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) probes or other biomolecules. These conjugates can be used for detecting specific DNA sequences, such as those found in mammalian cells.
