5-(Iodomethyl)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane is an organic compound that is used as a starting material for the synthesis of other compounds. It is often used in condensation reactions to produce fluoro compounds. 5-(Iodomethyl)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane can be synthesized from the reaction of diethyl acetamidomalonate and diethyl amine. The synthesis of this compound can also be accomplished by reduction of the corresponding nitro compound with hydrogen gas and sodium borohydride.
