This product also exhibits high surface activity, which allows it to flocculate suspended solids and form clumps. 3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropanesulfonic acid sodium salt is often used as a matrix for analyzing the presence of bacteria by using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization.
