Benzo[b]thien-2-yl ketone (zileuton impurity) is a metabolite of the drug zileuton, which is used to treat asthma. Benzo[b]thien-2-yl ketone is formed by the oxidation of benzo[b]thiophene in the presence of cytochrome P450 enzyme system.
