CAS:3,5-Dinitrobenzoyl chloride is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of other compounds. It is made by reacting hydrochloric acid with 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid. The reaction solution has a pH of 2 to 4 and can be used to test for the presence of amines in urine samples. 3,5-Dinitrobenzoyl chloride reacts with amines to form an ester linkage and produces a yellow coloration. It also reacts with fatty acids to form sodium carbonate, which produces a white precipitate. 3,5-Dinitrobenzoyl chloride can be quantified gravimetrically by dissolving it in nitric acid and measuring the weight of the resulting nitrate formed.
