p-Menthane
CAS:p-Menthane is a monoterpene that belongs to the class of chemical compounds known as oxygenated natural products. It is produced by plants, including various species of the genera Mentha and Piper, and has been found in peppermint oil. p-Menthane is structurally similar to propranolol hydrochloride, a drug used for the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris. The cyclohexane ring in p-menthane can be synthesized from geranyl pyrophosphate via three steps: 1) oxidation with potassium permanganate, 2) conversion to the corresponding acid chloride with thionyl chloride, and 3) reaction with methylamine.Formula:C10H20Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Clear LiquidMolecular weight:140.27 g/mol
