It binds to the enzyme acetylcholine esterase and prevents it from breaking down acetylcholine. 3-(tert-Butoxycarbonylamino)-pyrrolidine has a broad spectrum of activity, which includes both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The drug also inhibits nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, which are ion channels found on the surface of cells that are activated by acetylcholine. 3-(tert-Butoxycarbonylamino)-pyrrolidine can be used in combination with dichloropalladium to produce a linker between two molecules that inhibits protein synthesis.
