It was synthesized by reacting aluminium with oxindole in vivo and had a reaction time of 45 minutes. The enantiomers of 5-Methyl-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one were separated by chromatography on silica gel column and showed potent cytotoxicity against cancer cells.
