Beschreibung:
Scandiumoxid, mit der chemischen Formel Sc₂O₃, ist eine weiße, kristalline Verbindung, die hauptsächlich in verschiedenen industriellen Anwendungen eingesetzt wird, einschließlich Keramiken, Elektronik und als Dotiermittel in Festkörperlasern. It is insoluble in water but soluble in acids or alkali solutions. Scandium oxide reacts with oxygen to produce scandia (Sc), which can be used as a dopant for silicon (Si) and germanium (Ge). Scandium oxide is used as a catalyst in the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polystyrene. It also has been used to manufacture semiconductor devices such as transistors.
