Beschreibung:Norcarfentanil oxalate is a potent synthetic opioid that is used as an intravenous anesthetic. It has been approved for use in veterinary medicine to induce and maintain general anesthesia. Norcarfentanil oxalate is metabolized by amination to norcarfentanil-N-oxide, which is the major metabolic product of this drug. The pharmacokinetic modeling of this compound has shown that its half-life ranges from 4 to 8 hours, with a peak plasma concentration occurring 1 hour after administration. Norcarfentanil oxalate's side effects include depression, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. These side effects are more common in women than in men. Other side effects include serotonin syndrome and serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) discontinuation syndrome.
