4-(2-Chlorophenyl)piperidine is a nucleozin that has potent anti-influenza virus activity. It binds to the viral nucleoprotein and blocks the influenza virus from entering the nucleus of the host cell, preventing replication. It also has advanced antiviral properties with potent activity against influenza. 4-(2-Chlorophenyl)piperidine also inhibits RNA synthesis in cells infected by influenza, slowing the progression of an infection. This drug's chemical structure is similar to that of amantadine, a well-known antiviral drug.
