3-([3,5-Bis(difluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl]methyl)-4-methoxybenzaldehyde is a cinnamic acid derivative that has been shown to have neuroprotective effects. It binds to the NMDA receptor and prevents the uptake of glutamate into the cell, which inhibits activation of the NMDAR. This inhibition of activation leads to an inhibitory effect on cancer cells. 3-(3,5-bis(difluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl]-4-methoxybenzaldehyde also has an inhibitory effect on dopamine release in vitro. Clinical studies are currently being conducted for its use in Parkinson's disease patients with levodopa induced dyskinesia.
