Descripción:
Nitrato de bario es un compuesto inorgánico con la fórmula química Ba(NO3)2. Aparece como un sólido cristalino blanco y es altamente soluble en agua. Este compuesto se caracteriza por sus fuertes propiedades oxidantes, lo que lo hace útil en diversas aplicaciones, incluyendo la pirotecnia, donde sirve como colorante para producir llamas verdes. In addition, it has been used to create ceramics and enamelware. Barium nitrate can be made by reacting anhydrous sodium or potassium dichromate with barium carbonate or nitrate at high temperatures. The reaction mechanism of this process involves the decomposition of the dichromate ion into chromous ions and oxygen gas (O2). This process produces heat which causes the barium carbonate or nitrate to decompose into barium oxide (BaO) and nitrogen gas (N2).
