4-Etoxibenzaldehído, también conocido como para-etoxibenzaldehído, es un aldehído aromático caracterizado por la presencia de un grupo etoxi (-OCH2CH3) unido al anillo bencénico en la posición para en relación con el grupo funcional aldehído (-CHO). Este compuesto aparece típicamente como un líquido incoloro a amarillo pálido con un olor dulce y floral. Es moderadamente soluble en disolventes orgánicos como el etanol y el éter, pero tiene una solubilidad limitada en agua debido a su grupo etoxi hidrofóbico. El compuesto se utiliza en síntesis orgánica y como componente de fragancia en perfumería. Su reactividad se atribuye principalmente al grupo funcional aldehído, que puede sufrir reacciones típicas como oxidación, reducción y condensación. Además, 4-Etoxibenzaldehído puede participar en reacciones de sustitución aromática electrofílica debido a la naturaleza donante de electrones del grupo etoxi, que aumenta la reactividad del anillo aromático.
