The inhibition of this enzyme leads to a decrease in the production of pro-inflammatory factors, such as leukotrienes and prostaglandins. The inhibition of this enzyme also prevents the release of lysosomal enzymes, which may be a therapeutic target for degenerative diseases. Kinetic data has been collected by measuring the rate at which 4-methoxybenzyl alcohol reacts with hydroxylase in vitro and in vivo.
