Ácido 2-propenoico, 2-metil-, éster oxiranimetílico, comúnmente conocido como metacrilato de glicidilo, es un compuesto orgánico caracterizado por su estructura acrilato, que incluye un grupo de ácido metacrílico y un grupo epóxido. Glycidyl methacrylate is used as a polymerization initiator in the production of polymers, such as vinyl polymers, which are used in the manufacture of paints, adhesives, and coatings. Glycidyl methacrylate is also used to produce protective coatings for metals such as aluminum and zirconium oxide. In vitro experiments have shown that glycidyl methacrylate reacts with basic proteins at pH 7.4 to form hydrolyzed products.
