CAS:Sodium ethoxide is the sodium salt of ethyl alcohol. It is a weak base with a pKa of 14.8 and can be used as an esterifying agent in organic synthesis. Sodium ethoxide has shown to have anti-inflammatory and antacid properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. Sodium ethoxide also has been shown to have beneficial effects on bowel disease, congestive heart failure, and inflammatory bowel disease. This drug may act by binding to the hydroxyl group of the polymerase chain reaction solution, thereby preventing DNA polymerization.Fórmula:C2H5NaOPureza:Min. 95%Peso molecular:68.05 g/molSodium ethoxide, 96%

CAS:Sodium ethoxide is used as a strong base in organic synthesis. It is actively involved in the Claisen condensation, Stobbe reaction and Wolf-kishner reduction. It is an important starting material for the synthesis of ethyl ester and diethyl ester of malonic acid. In Williamson ether synthesis, it reacts with ethyl bromide to form diethyl ether. It is widely used as a base for the generation of carbanions which are utilized for alkylation and condensation reactions.
