Ácido trifluorometanosulfónico, también conocido como ácido triflíco, es un ácido fuerte caracterizado por su estructura altamente polar y la presencia de grupos funcionales de trifluorometilo y ácido sulfónico. Es un líquido incoloro e inodoro que es altamente soluble en agua y muchos disolventes orgánicos. Con una alta acidez, a menudo se utiliza como un superácido, superando la fuerza del ácido sulfúrico, lo que lo hace efectivo en varias reacciones químicas, incluyendo la catálisis y la protonación de bases débiles.
