  • Lithium iron phosphate

    CAS:
Lithium iron phosphate is a chemical compound with the empirical formula LiFePO4. It is a lithium-containing salt that is used as an additive in the production of glass, paper, and steel. Lithium iron phosphate is prepared by mixing lithium hydroxide, phosphoric acid, and iron(III) oxide together at high temperature. The reaction mechanism consists of three steps: hydrolysis, formation of lithium phosphate (Li3PO4), and precipitation of FePO4. The particle size distribution was found to be dependent on the reaction time. A model system was developed to study the effect of sodium carbonate on the thermal decomposition process. The activation energies for reactions between Li3PO4 and Na2CO3 were found to be 33 kJ/mol for the endothermic reaction and 13 kJ/mol for the exothermic reaction. Lithium iron phosphate has been investigated as an electrode material for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy experiments because it has a low electronic

  • Lithium iron(II) phosphate

    CAS:
Lithium iron(II) phosphate is a compound that is used as an industrial chemical. It can be found in many products, such as paints and plastics. Lithium iron(II) phosphate can also be used for wastewater treatment. The reaction of phosphorus pentoxide, sodium carbonate, and hydrochloric acid produces lithium iron(II) phosphate. This reaction has been shown to have a thermodynamic data with a negative entropy of activation. The reaction mechanism is that the hydroxide ion reacts with phosphorus pentoxide to produce phosphoric acid and water. This then reacts with sodium carbonate to produce sodium hydroxide and lithium hydroxide. Finally, this reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce lithium chloride and iron(II) chloride. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy data has shown that there are no significant changes in the impedance values when the concentration of ferric ions is increased from 0 mM to 200 mM at constant pH (7).
