This molecule consists of copper and nitrogen atoms and has a helical structure. It can be dissolved in sodium salts, such as tetrahydrofuran, to form a coordination complex with the carbonyl group. The intramolecular hydrogen bonds are stabilized by the triazine ring system. The x-ray crystal structures reveal an intermolecular hydrogen bond between the copper atom and the triazine ring system. The molecular geometry of Cu-NHCF4 is trigonal planar with D₁ symmetry.
