Ácido 4-(hidroximetil)benzoico, también conocido como ácido p-hidroximetilbenzoico, es un ácido carboxílico aromático caracterizado por la presencia de un grupo hidroximetilo (-CH2OH) y un grupo ácido carboxílico (-COOH) unidos a un anillo bencénico. Este compuesto aparece típicamente como un sólido cristalino blanco a blanco sucio y es soluble en disolventes polares como agua y alcoholes, debido a sus grupos funcionales.
