Ciclopirox olamina es un agente antifúngico comúnmente utilizado en formulaciones dermatológicas para tratar diversas infecciones fúngicas, incluyendo pie de atleta, tiña y dermatitis seborreica. Se caracteriza por su actividad antifúngica de amplio espectro, que se atribuye a su capacidad para inhibir el crecimiento de hongos al interferir con la integridad y función de su membrana celular. Ciclopirox olamina es un polvo cristalino blanco a blanco amarillento que es soluble en agua y tiene un rango de pH que es típicamente neutro a ligeramente ácido. Su mecanismo de acción implica la quelación de iones metálicos, lo que interrumpe procesos enzimáticos esenciales en las células fúngicas.
