3-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)propyl]amine is a chlorinated reserpine derivative that is used as an antihypertensive agent. It has been shown to lower blood pressure by depleting the body of catecholamines, such as 5-hydroxytryptamine, and by blocking the uptake of norepinephrine. 3-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)propyl]amine has also been shown to have potentiating effects on barbiturates, which can be useful for anesthesia. This drug has not yet been approved for use in humans.

In molecular docking studies, 2,4,6-Trimethoxy-3-methylbenzaldehyde has shown antitubercular activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex. It is also an inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatase and has been shown to have antibacterial activity against various strains of bacteria.
