Isopentyl 4-methoxycinnamate has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, which is resistant to ciprofloxacin. Isopentyl 4-methoxycinnamate has also been shown to have potent inhibition activity against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, but not against Enterobacter cloacae. The fluorescence intensity of isopentyl 4-methoxycinnamate can be enhanced by adding glycerin or sodium citrate to the solution.
